Suspected terrorists linked to the Lakurawa group launched a deadly attack on a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa, near the Maje border in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, fatally shooting three officers on duty.
The assault occurred around midnight on Wednesday, sending waves of fear across border communities already grappling with rising insecurity.
Local sources told Hobnob News that the assailants stormed the checkpoint without warning and immediately opened fire, leaving three immigration personnel dead at the scene.
The tragic incident has sparked renewed concerns over the increasing presence of armed groups operating around Nigeria’s border corridors.
