Tensions in Zamfara After CJTF Fatally Shoots Bandit Leader’s Father

Tensions have risen in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State following the fatal shooting of 60-year-old Alhaji Ibrahim Nagode by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Nagode, from Na’alma village, was the father of Haruna Ibrahim, widely known as “Fada,” a prominent bandit leader. Sources reported that the incident occurred as Fada returned to his village after a recently negotiated peace agreement between local communities and bandits.

Security officials said the area had been on heightened alert due to intelligence indicating that armed bandits were regrouping nearby. Joint security forces were conducting intensified patrols to prevent potential attacks when Nagode was tragically killed.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken all CJTF personnel involved into custody. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, cautioning that the death of a bandit leader’s father could trigger retaliation. Observers stressed the need for dialogue and strict adherence to peace agreements to avoid further violence.

Security operatives are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their communities.
