The Department of State Services has dismantled a suspected arms supply network believed to be linked to violent attacks across Plateau State and other northern regions, following the arrest of an alleged arms dealer, Musa Abubakar.
Abubakar was apprehended on November 12, 2025, after intelligence-led operatives traced him to an arms fabrication workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the DSS said the suspect had been manufacturing and distributing high-calibre weapons and ammunition to armed groups responsible for attacks within Plateau and neighbouring states.
According to the service, operatives recovered components of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), chemicals, and various equipment from the covert workshop during the raid.
The DSS disclosed that the arrest followed credible intelligence indicating Abubakar’s involvement in supplying weapons to terror-linked groups. The breakthrough marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illicit arms fueling insecurity in the region.
The operation comes shortly after the service successfully recaptured Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee accused of participating in the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.
The agency had earlier announced the arrest of nine other suspects, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol, as part of a broader security crackdown.
The DSS reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying counterterrorism operations and urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue providing actionable intelligence to support national security efforts.
