The Gombe State Government has presented 16 brand-new SUVs to senior judicial officers, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening the administration of justice in the state.
Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Jatau, handed over the vehicles on Friday to the Chief Judge, High Court judges, the Grand Khadi, and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.
Yahaya said the intervention aligns with his administration’s broader reforms aimed at improving judicial efficiency.
“This administration places high priority on a functional justice system. Providing these vehicles is part of our resolve to ensure judicial officers have the tools they need to deliver justice effectively,” he said.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the vehicles responsibly, noting that improved service delivery and timely dispensation of justice are expected outcomes.
Gombe State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zubairu Umar, commended the governor for fulfilling his commitments to the judiciary.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Magaji Gambo, disclosed that the government spent over ₦2 billion on the vehicles, describing the upgrade as long overdue.
“The judiciary last received new vehicles a decade ago. This investment strengthens judicial autonomy and equips officers to serve with greater efficiency,” he said.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the judiciary, Chief Registrar of the High Court, Bello Sherif; Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Ibrahim Jibrin; and Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gombe Branch, Alhassan Mu’azu, expressed appreciation for the state government’s support.
