Army Rescues 86 Kidnapped Victims, Arrests 29 Terror Suspects in Borno Operations — Hobnob

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Joint Task Force North-East, have successfully rescued 86 kidnapped victims and arrested 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in a series of coordinated military operations across Borno State.

This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by the Media Information Officer of the task force, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, via the official X handle of Operation Hadin Kai.

According to the statement, troops from the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 intercepted Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists on November 9 at Dutse Kura while attempting to abduct civilians and vehicles along the Buratai–Kamuya Road.

“The troops thwarted the attack and pursued the terrorists towards Mangari, overpowering them in a follow-up encounter near a camp, which forced the insurgents to flee in disarray,” Lt. Col. Uba said.

Following the engagement, the troops destroyed 11 makeshift terrorist structures and successfully rescued 86 hostages, including men, women, and children.

Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, five magazines with 73 rounds, four PKT ammunition belts, five civilian vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles, and two logistics tricycles. The insurgents’ camp was later demolished during clearance operations.

In a separate operation, troops stationed at Mangada intercepted and arrested 29 terrorist logistics suppliers heading to Chilaria.

Recovered materials from the suspects included two pickup vans and a tricycle loaded with 1,000 litres of petrol (PMS), four gallons of engine oil, two new gun truck tyres, a cache of medical supplies, and large quantities of foodstuffs and provisions.

Lt. Col. Uba confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operations.

“The Military High Command commends the gallantry and professionalism of the troops while charging Operation Hadin Kai to sustain its operations to deny terrorists freedom of action across the North-East theatre,” he added.

The Nigerian Army continues to intensify nationwide offensive operations against terrorists, insurgents, and economic saboteurs — recording major successes in recent weeks.
