Youngest Son of RCCG Founder, Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi, Dies at 62

Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi, the youngest son of the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pa Josiah Akindayomi, has passed away at the age of 62.

He reportedly died on Sunday, November 2, about 45 years after his father’s death and seven months after the passing of his elder brother, Pastor Kolade Akindayomi, who died on May 4 this year.

A close family friend described his death as sudden and shocking, noting that he had shown no signs of illness. “Nobody imagined he would die barely 24 hours after serving as chairman at a wedding ceremony,” the source said.

According to the account, Pastor Ifeoluwa went for a prayer walk on Sunday morning at the RCCG Camp. Upon returning home to prepare for service, he allegedly missed his steps and fell, hitting his head on a sharp object. He sustained a severe injury and lost consciousness. Efforts to rush him to the hospital were unsuccessful.

Until his passing, Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi served as Assistant Provincial Pastor of Ogun Province 5 of the RCCG and ran a thriving printing business.

His wife and children are said to have relocated to Canada, leaving him in Nigeria. The source added that his family had encouraged him to join them abroad, but he chose to remain because of his business and ministry commitments.

He was also said to have often expressed concern about being apart from his family and had tried persuading his son to return to Nigeria to help manage the family enterprise.
