A tricycle rider lost his life after being hit by a stray bullet outside a brothel in the Badore area of Ajah, Lagos State. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Witnesses said the victim had gone to the brothel to unwind after work but stepped out briefly to buy something from a nearby shop. While he was outside, unidentified gunmen stormed the area and began shooting indiscriminately. One of the bullets struck him, killing him instantly.
A police officer familiar with the case said preliminary reports suggest that the gunmen, believed to be cultists, were targeting a rival group in the community. “He had gone out to buy bottled water when the shooters, driving a blue Toyota Corolla, opened fire randomly. Sadly, one of the bullets hit him,” the source said.
Residents confirmed that the shooting appeared to be part of an ongoing cult clash in the area. Panic spread through the neighbourhood as people fled to safety during the gunfire.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the incident, stating that the victim’s body was discovered at the scene the following morning and later taken to the morgue. His family has since been informed and the remains released for burial.
The killing adds to the growing wave of cult-related violence in Lagos and other southwestern states. Earlier in October, a recent graduate of the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, was similarly killed by a stray bullet during a clash between rival cult groups.
