Former President Goodluck Jonathan has refuted allegations that he linked former President Muhammadu Buhari to Boko Haram. In a statement, Jonathan’s office clarified that his comments were misrepresented and taken out of context. He explained that his remarks were meant to illustrate Boko Haram’s manipulative tactics and duplicity, not to accuse Buhari of any wrongdoing.
Jonathan questioned the logic behind claims linking Buhari to Boko Haram, pointing out that if Buhari was indeed their preferred negotiator, Boko Haram would have likely ceased their terrorist activities when Buhari became president. He emphasized that both he and Buhari share a commitment to peace and stability in Nigeria.
The former president urged the public to disregard the misinterpretation of his remarks and reiterated his dedication to promoting peace, unity, and democratic values in Nigeria.
