Russian Drone Strike Kills 13,000 Pigs in Ukraine Farm Attack

A Russian drone strike on Ukraine’s northeast has killed around 13,000 pigs after a massive fire tore through a farm overnight, Hobnob News reports.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service confirmed on Friday that the attack hit a farming enterprise in the Novovodolazka community, Kharkiv region. The fire destroyed eight stalls covering over 13,000 square meters, leaving the entire facility in ruins.

“About 13,000 pigs died as a result of a Russian UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) attack on a farming enterprise in the Novovodolazka community,” the agency said, adding that one farm worker was injured.

Photos released by emergency services showed harrowing images of carcasses piled inside scorched stalls, some with collapsed roofs and walls blackened by flames.

The war, now in its fourth year, has devastated not only human lives but also animals across Ukraine. In September, seven horses were killed when a Russian strike hit an equestrian club in Kyiv region. Earlier in June, a ram was killed in an attack on Odesa zoo, one of several zoos damaged by shelling since the invasion began.

The latest strike highlights the far-reaching humanitarian and environmental toll of the conflict, with Ukraine repeatedly accusing Russia of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure, including farms and food supplies.
