Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has sought the intervention of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, over the freezing of his bank accounts by the Federal Government.
Igboho, accompanied by his supporters, paid a courtesy visit to the monarch at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Monday, where both men held a private meeting lasting about 40 minutes.
A statement from Igboho’s media office on Wednesday revealed that their discussions focused on insecurity in the South-West, recent bandit attacks in parts of Kwara State, and Igboho’s unresolved disputes with the Federal Government.
According to the statement, Oba Ladoja assured Igboho of his willingness to intervene in his ongoing challenges, including the embargo placed on his accounts and his lingering designation as a wanted person.
It will be recalled that in 2021, operatives of the Department of State Services, supported by soldiers, raided Igboho’s residence in Soka, Ibadan, killing two of his aides and arresting 13 others, over allegations of stockpiling arms.
During his visit, Igboho congratulated the Olubadan on his ascension to the throne, describing him as a respected leader in Ibadan and across Yorubaland. He also expressed readiness to work with authorities in addressing insecurity in the region.
“Olubadan has been a father figure to me since his time as governor. His reign will no doubt promote peace, unity, and development in Ibadanland and Yorubaland,” Igboho stated.
