The Nigeria Police Force has announced that nationwide enforcement of tinted glass permits will officially commence on October 2, 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command, SP Shi’isu Adam, in Dutse, the state capital.
According to the statement, the online registration and application process is already ongoing via the official portal posspap.gov.ng, and motorists are urged to carefully follow the outlined steps for a smooth application.
Applicants are required to create an account using their NIN, BVN, or TIN, verify their email, and then log in to select the Tinted Glass Permit service. They must upload their vehicle details along with all necessary supporting documents, confirm the accuracy of the information, and proceed with payment as directed.
SP Adam noted that after the online process, vehicle inspection and biometric fingerprint capturing will be scheduled at designated Nigeria Police Intelligence Departments. In Jigawa State, the biometric capturing will be done free of charge at the State Intelligence Department, Police Headquarters, Dutse.
The Police warned motorists against patronising unauthorised individuals or middlemen who may attempt to exploit the permit process.
“This initiative is designed to promote transparency and enhance road safety across the country,” the statement read, while emphasising the command’s commitment to accountability.
The Police further called on the public to cooperate fully to ensure smooth enforcement, adding that compliance with the directive not only protects motorists legally but also helps curb illegal use of tinted windows.
Motorists intending to apply are advised to complete their registration promptly ahead of the enforcement date.
