Wike Vows Support for Politicians Backing Tinubu’s Agenda

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that his support will go to political leaders who align themselves with President Bola Tinubu’s administration and bring development to their people.

Wike made the remarks on Thursday during the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Water Supply Project in Karu, where he praised former Senator Philip Aduda and the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, for their roles in facilitating development projects.

The minister announced that, at Aduda’s request, a 2km road in Karu will be constructed, stressing that government support is best directed toward leaders who have the capacity and access to deliver tangible benefits to their communities.

“One thing about government and politics is this: support those who have capacity to bring something to the people—those that government will listen to. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him,” Wike said.

He lauded Maikalangu as “very good and hardworking,” noting his success in attracting projects such as the Saburi Road, Kabusa-Takushere Road, and Deidei Road to AMAC. Wike pledged continued collaboration if Maikalangu secures re-election in the 2026 council polls.

Turning to the issue of water supply, Wike said past governments had neglected Karu and surrounding communities, but the Tinubu administration was fulfilling its promises by ensuring access to potable water in satellite towns.

“We have had governments here for years that never gave you water. This government promised, and today, we are fulfilling that promise. Agreement is agreement,” the minister said.

Aduda, who previously represented the FCT in the Senate under the Peoples Democratic Party until 2023, was also commended for his influence in facilitating projects. Maikalangu, who defected to the All Progressives Congress in 2024, is seeking re-election in February 2026.
