The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially presented Certificates of Return to newly elected senators and members of the House of Representatives who emerged victorious in the August 16 by-elections.
The presentation ceremony took place on Thursday at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, with National Commissioners of the commission handing the certificates to the winners.
Among the recipients was Emmanuel Nwachukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), elected senator for Anambra South, and Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured victory in the Edo Central Senatorial District.
INEC also presented certificates to five newly elected members of the House of Representatives. They are:
Barr. Omosede Igbinedion (APC), winner of the Ovie North East and Ovie South West Federal Constituency, Edo State.
Mukhtar Rabi’u Garki (APC), representing Babura/Garki Federal Constituency, Jigawa State.
Fidelix Bagudu (APC), elected for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State.
Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji (APC), representative of the Ikenne/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Ogun State.
Fola Oyekunle (PDP), representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo State.
With the issuance of the certificates, the elected lawmakers are now officially recognized and set to assume their legislative duties.
