The Kano State Hisbah Board has detained 62 individuals—27 men and 35 women—accused of engaging in immoral activities at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) annex in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.
Deputy Commandant Mujahid Aminudeen said the arrests occurred on Sunday during a joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), following intelligence from residents.
“The suspects took advantage of the ongoing rain to indulge themselves,” Aminudeen said. “The board will continue to enforce Shari’a and urges the public to report violations.”
He added that similar operations were conducted at Tamburawa Bridge, and all suspects will face court charges once investigations conclude.
Two weeks earlier, the board arrested 26 women at a hotel in Kano for alleged immoral behaviour after complaints from the public. Aminudeen noted that military authorities assisted in that operation, many suspects were found intoxicated, and several cartons of wine were recovered.
He emphasised that the board will maintain these operations to curb immoral conduct across the state.
