By-election Turns Chaotic as Edo PDP Agent Attacked Over Alleged PVC Hoarding

Tension broke out on Saturday at Ozolua Model Primary School, Iguobazuwa East Ward, Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State, after voters reportedly attacked a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent for allegedly hoarding Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

According to eyewitnesses, the agent, whose identity was withheld, had allegedly refused to release PVCs to eligible voters.

A voter, identified as Robert, said the situation escalated after many residents accused the agent of holding back the cards.

“The PDP agent has our voter cards and we need them to vote, but he refused to release them. People got angry and descended on him,” he explained.

Robert further alleged that the agent had mobilized several residents for registration, but later withheld their PVCs during the election because “most of the people wanted to vote for the APC candidate, Omosede Igbinedion.”

The incident nearly turned violent before police officers intervened, preventing the agent from being lynched.
