The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has ridiculed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu, insisting it will not save him from defeat in the November governorship election.
In a statement issued by Okechukwu Modebe, spokesperson for the Nicholas Ukachukwu/Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organisation, the APC described Soludo’s Tuesday meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as “the last kick of a dying horse” and a desperate attempt to revive dwindling political fortunes.
Soludo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), had pledged support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid during the visit — a move the APC alleged was being misrepresented as an endorsement that does not exist.
“This photo-op with Mr President cannot erase four years of misgovernance, disconnection from the grassroots, and political miscalculations,” the statement read. “Selling it as an endorsement insults the intelligence of Anambra voters.”
Modebe said the APC’s focus remained firmly on the November poll and the August 16 Anambra South senatorial re-run, where the party’s candidate, Chief Azuka Okwuosa, aims to prove APGA’s declining relevance.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a credible process, warning that “the days of business-as-usual in Anambra politics are over.”
Meanwhile, President Tinubu, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, welcomed Soludo’s visit, describing him as “a friend of over two decades.”
Tinubu said their discussions centred on ongoing reforms, security challenges, and creating inclusive opportunities for Nigerian youths, stressing that all progressives must work together to deepen democracy, strengthen security, and transform the economy.
