Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has officially presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to Hon. Rabiu Muktar, the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election.
The flag presentation ceremony, held on Monday in Babura town, comes just five days before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducts the poll on August 16, 2025.
The event drew top government officials, party stalwarts from Garki and Babura constituencies, and representatives from 25 other local government areas in the state.
Commending the party members for their maturity during the selection process, Governor Namadi described their unity as a shining example of internal democracy and responsible leadership. He prayed for the APC’s victory at the polls and divine guidance for the candidate, if elected.
Namadi also applauded the sportsmanship of other aspirants who accepted the consensus decision, stressing that true leadership involves prioritising the people’s best interests.
In his acceptance speech, Muktar expressed deep appreciation to the governor and stakeholders for a transparent and inclusive selection process. He vowed to work hand-in-hand with all party members to secure a decisive win for the APC.
The by-election follows the passing of Hon. Isa Dogonyaro in May 2024. Describing his candidacy as a collective mandate, Muktar pledged to carry everyone along in his representation.
Earlier, APC State Chairman Aminu Gumel presented Muktar to Governor Namadi for the symbolic flag handover. Before the event, Namadi and his entourage toured Doko, Garki, Kargo, and Jigawa Dan Ali towns to rally voter support en route to Babura.
