The University of Lagos (UNILAG) School of Postgraduate Studies will hold its 2025 Annual Lecture on August 14, focusing on the role of advanced education in shaping Nigeria’s future.
According to Dr. Tayo Popoola, Chairman of the Publicity Sub-Committee, the event— themed “Postgraduate Education: Setting Agenda for National Development”— aims to highlight how postgraduate studies can drive innovation, capacity building, and socio-economic growth.
The lecture will take place at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall, UNILAG, and will feature distinguished academic and former Head of the Federal Civil Service, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, as Guest Speaker. Afolabi is expected to draw from his extensive experience in governance and public administration to address how postgraduate institutions can better contribute to national progress.
“This event reflects the university’s commitment to positioning postgraduate education as a strategic tool for addressing Nigeria’s developmental challenges,” the statement read.
UNILAG has extended invitations to stakeholders from academia, government, industry, and the wider public to participate in the discourse. The aim is to create actionable strategies that will strengthen postgraduate education’s impact on national development.
