Super Eagles manager, Eric Chelle, has sounded a note of caution to his home-based squad ahead of Nigeria’s opening clash against Senegal in the group stage of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).
According to Hobnob News, the much-anticipated encounter is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. Nigerian time on Tuesday evening.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Monday, Chelle issued three key warnings to his players, urging them to take the game seriously.
“I don’t think it is a derby but this is a game between two big countries in Africa,” he said.
“They have a history in football. Senegal have a good generation and a good team.
So our preparation for this game has been good and we’ll look to implement everything we have prepared into this match.”
Chelle’s warnings highlight Senegal’s football pedigree, strong current squad, and tactical capability, all of which pose a threat to Nigeria’s CHAN campaign.
The match is expected to set the tone for Group A, with both nations eyeing a strong start in their quest for continental glory.
