The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially released the timetable for its 2025 party congresses, which are set to take place across 13 states.
According to a post on Friday by the PDP’s National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar M. Bature, via his X handle, the exercise will cover the election of new party executives at the ward, local government, and state levels, beginning in September.
The affected states include Adamawa, Borno, Edo, Kebbi, Kwara, Ondo, Oyo, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Plateau, and Cross River.
The process will kick off with a membership registration exercise for both new and returning members, scheduled to run from Friday, August 1 to Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Following the registration, the sale of nomination and ad-hoc forms will take place from Monday, August 18 to Friday, August 29.
“This is to enable all intending aspirants the opportunity to purchase nomination forms. Submission of forms by aspirants will close on Friday, September 5,” the statement added.
According to the timetable:
- Ward congresses to elect ward executives and three ad-hoc delegates will be held on Saturday, September 13, with appeals scheduled for Wednesday, September 17.
- Local government congresses will follow on Saturday, September 20 to elect LGA executives and national delegates. Appeals will be addressed on Wednesday, September 24.
- State congresses, which will produce the new state executives, will be conducted on Saturday, September 27, with appeals slated for Wednesday, September 30.
The PDP leadership noted that the timetable is aimed at ensuring a smooth and transparent transition process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
