Celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, has reportedly been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while attempting to travel to Qatar ahead of his wedding with controversial self-acclaimed relationship expert, Blessing CEO.
According to Hobnob News, IVD was apprehended on Friday by officials of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions. His arrest is reportedly linked to the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, who died in October 2022 following injuries sustained during a domestic violence-related fire incident at their residence.
Reacting to the development on Saturday, media personality Stella Dimoko-Korkus confirmed the arrest in an Instagram post, stating that IVD was not permitted to leave the country due to the unresolved court case.
“Domestic violence case against him regarding his late wife is still in court. IVD is not supposed to leave Nigeria until the case is over,” she wrote.
The Lagos State Government had earlier charged IVD with one count of involuntary manslaughter under suit No LD/21055C/23, tied to the circumstances surrounding Bimbo’s tragic death.
The incident has reignited public discourse on justice for victims of domestic violence, as well as scrutiny over high-profile figures attempting to evade legal accountability.
