President of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has named Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi as the greatest football player in history, while also praising the next generation of stars emerging from Barcelona’s ranks.
Speaking in an exclusive report by Hobnob News, Laporta described Messi, the former Barcelona captain, as a football icon who has accomplished everything there is to achieve in the sport.
“Messi did everything. For me, he’s the best player in history. But the world goes on,” said Laporta, 63, via The Touchline.
Laporta also spotlighted three current Barcelona players—Pedri, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal—calling them the most gifted footballers in the world today.
“But the new geniuses of this generation are players like Lamine Yamal, Pedri or Raphinha. The most talented players in the world of football,” he added.
Lionel Messi, 38, remains the most decorated footballer in history, with a career haul of over 40 major trophies, including the prestigious FIFA World Cup. The Argentine international enjoyed a legendary spell at Barcelona before moving to Paris Saint-Germain and later joining Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
