A domestic dispute turned fatal in Okitipupa, Ondo State, after a woman, Augustina Mowari, allegedly stabbed her live-in boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, to death following accusations of infidelity.
According to sources close to the couple, the pair had been cohabiting in a one-room apartment for several years but were often entangled in conflicts, particularly over suspicions of unfaithfulness on the part of the deceased.
“They had been having serious trust issues. Augustina accused Michael of cheating with another woman, and the situation escalated into a violent argument,” a neighbour disclosed.
During the altercation, Mowari allegedly used a pair of scissors to stab Michael in the leg. Though initially treated at a nearby hospital and discharged with medication, his condition reportedly worsened at home. His leg became severely swollen, prompting an emergency return to the hospital on Sunday night, where he later died despite medical efforts.
Police Confirm Arrest
Confirming the incident, Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the suspect has been taken into custody.
“There was an argument between the two, which led to the suspect stabbing the victim with scissors. Sadly, the victim later died in the hospital,” Ayanlade stated.
The police have launched a formal investigation and confirmed that the case will be charged to court upon its conclusion.
This tragic incident adds to growing concerns about domestic violence and emotional conflicts escalating into fatal outcomes. Authorities continue to urge couples to seek non-violent means of resolving disputes and to engage in dialogue or counselling when tensions arise.
