Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has joined the chorus of celebration following the Super Falcons’ dramatic 3-2 victory over hosts Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Saturday night.

Hobnob News reports that the Nigerian women’s team pulled off a remarkable comeback at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat after going two goals down in the first half. Moroccan stars Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy had put the hosts in control, but the Super Falcons turned the tide in a stunning second-half display.

Goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini sealed a memorable win for Nigeria, securing their 10th WAFCON title and further cementing their dominance in African women’s football.
