The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Iliyasu Musa, for the murder of his ex-wife, Hadiza Sale, in Afasha Village, Aujara District of the state.
In a statement released Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, it was revealed that the tragic incident occurred on July 10, 2025, when Musa ambushed and fatally struck the 30-year-old woman near her home as she returned from the market late at night.
The couple, now estranged, had six children together before their separation. Musa, who hails from Dangewaye Village, fled the scene after the attack and went into hiding. He was eventually tracked down and arrested on July 23, 2025, in Larabar-Tambarin-Gwani Village.
“The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Dutse, ahead of his arraignment in court,” the police spokesperson stated.
In a related development, the police also apprehended Alpha Samaila, a 20-year-old resident of Sabuwar Unguwa in Roni Local Government Area, for alleged armed robbery.
Samaila, along with a group of yet-to-be-identified accomplices, was reported to have invaded the residence of Abubakar Yahaya, where they assaulted the victim, stabbed him with a sharp object, and made away with ₦170,000 and a Tecno Hot 40i smartphone.
The incident occurred in the early hours of July 21, 2025, prompting a swift response from police following a distress call at about 4:30 a.m.
Yahaya was rushed to the Roni Primary Health Care Centre, where he received treatment and was later discharged.
The police assured the public that investigations into both incidents are ongoing and reaffirmed their commitment to securing communities across the state.
