Nwifuru Urges Coalition Agitators to Back Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid

Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, has called on political agitators and opposition coalitions to shelve their ambitions and unite in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, describing the President’s emergence as divinely ordained and his leadership as transformative.

Speaking during the South East zonal meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held on Monday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, Governor Nwifuru stated that President Tinubu’s presidency is a product of divine intervention rather than mere political maneuvering, noting that his administration has already implemented significant policies that are positively impacting the Nigerian populace.

“God chose President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be President of Nigeria contrary to the wishes and expectations of the opposition in 2023. God ignored others who contested on religious sentiments because God sees the heart of everybody; that is why He brought Tinubu,” Nwifuru declared.

He dismissed recent opposition coalitions aiming to challenge Tinubu’s second-term ambition, asserting that no political alliance can thwart what he described as God’s plan. “In 2027, no amount of coalition can derail God’s purpose of Tinubu winning the election,” the governor stated. “No one is disturbed by the coalition. No opposition is well prepared more than our President. We need someone who can take bold decisions. President Tinubu has such capacity.”

Nwifuru also emphasized the need for inclusiveness, tolerance, and internal democracy within the party, urging APC members to accommodate differing views and work collectively for the party’s progress. “The party is at home in Ebonyi State. We must be tolerant to divergent views and opinions and join Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to succeed and complete his tenure,” he said.

The governor’s remarks were contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, and circulated to journalists following the event.

Commending the efforts of the party’s leadership, Nwifuru said, “Anytime I see party executives, I know these are the people that work for the people. We must strengthen internal democracy of the party by ensuring inclusivity. This is because it is wrong to impose a candidate during any election.”

Also speaking at the event, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the Ebonyi State Chairman of APC, reiterated the party’s dominance and growing influence across the state. He pledged continued efforts to attract more members from the opposition.

Adding his voice, Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, the APC Zonal Chairman for the South East, explained that the meeting was part of a wider stakeholder consultation aimed at assessing the party’s strengths and weaknesses across wards and zones in the region.

“I am not surprised with what is happening because the governor of the state is very supportive of the party. Additionally, we are here to tell you that Ebonyi is doing well in governance. What the governor is doing is good. I drove around last night; I saw a beautiful city,” Arodiogbu stated.

The meeting, which drew participants from across the South East geopolitical zone, is seen as part of early strategic mobilization efforts by the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
