Emir of Daura Declares Tinubu as Daura Emirate’s Preferred Candidate for 2027

The Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, has publicly declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Daura Emirate’s preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, reaffirming the Emirate’s loyalty and political alignment ahead of the next general polls.

The pronouncement came on Saturday during a condolence visit to the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s family in Daura, led by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The First Lady was accompanied by a high-profile delegation of prominent women, including wives of National Assembly leaders, governors, ministers, and military officials.

During the visit, the delegation offered prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul and expressed solidarity with his widow, Hajiya Aisha Buhari. They also paid respects at the late president’s graveside and proceeded to the residence of Alhaji Mamman Daura, Buhari’s uncle and close ally, where they were warmly received.

Describing the late President Buhari as “an accomplished patriot who made his family, hometown, state, and nation proud,” Senator Tinubu lauded his legacy of discipline, sacrifice, and unwavering national service. In response, Alhaji Mamman Daura expressed deep appreciation for the First Lady’s gesture, calling the visit a testament to the enduring bond between their families.

The delegation then visited the Emir’s palace, where Senator Tinubu extended official condolences to the Daura Emirate over the loss of one of its most revered sons. In a bold political endorsement, the Emir praised President Tinubu’s leadership and declared the Emirate’s full support for his continued leadership beyond 2027.

“President Tinubu is our choice for 2027,” the Emir stated emphatically. “We remain solidly behind him and will continue to support his administration to succeed.”

The endorsement has sparked reactions across political circles, signaling strong northern traditional backing for Tinubu’s expected re-election bid, even as the political landscape begins to take shape ahead of the 2027 elections.
