It will be recalled that in a minor Senate reshuffle in February, Akpoti-Uduaghan was removed as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content and reassigned to the Diaspora and NGOs Committee. However, her latest replacement appears to further sideline her from Senate leadership roles.
Meanwhile, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, had ordered her reinstatement and directed her to tender a formal apology to the Senate for her conduct as a condition for resuming her duties.
Despite the court order, the Senate insists it has not yet received a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment, and Akpoti-Uduaghan is yet to comply with the directive to offer an apology.
The situation leaves her political future within the Senate uncertain, as the upper chamber moves ahead with committee leadership changes while maintaining its disciplinary stance.
