Australian Actor Julian McMahon Passes Away at 56 After Private Battle with Cancer

Hobnob News — Australian actor Julian McMahon, internationally acclaimed for his iconic roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and Fantastic Four, has died at the age of 56.

 

McMahon passed away peacefully on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida, after a private and courageous battle with cancer. The news was confirmed in a heartfelt statement released by his wife, Kelly, on Friday.

 

“With an open heart, I share with the world that Julian McMahon, my beloved husband, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.

We wish all of those to whom Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories,” the statement read.

 

Born into one of Australia’s most prominent political families, McMahon was the son of former Prime Minister Sir William McMahon. He paid tribute to his roots by portraying an Australian prime minister in the Netflix political drama The Residence.

 

McMahon’s career in film and television spanned over three decades, winning him global acclaim. He was best known for playing the seductive and complex Dr. Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck, the mysterious Cole Turner in Charmed, and the formidable Victor Von Doom in Fantastic Four.

 

Beyond the screen, McMahon lived a life in the public eye. He was married three times, including a notable marriage to Australian singer and actress Dannii Minogue, sister of international pop star Kylie Minogue.
