Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Development as FCT Commissions Strategic Dakibiyu Road

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again reassured residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering transformative infrastructure projects aimed at improving lives and boosting economic activity across the capital.

This renewed assurance came during the official commissioning of the newly constructed Collector Road CN-8 (Asuquo Okon Street) and its connecting routes within the Dakibiyu District. The strategic road links Arterial Road N-5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) in Jabi to Arterial Road N-1 (Olusegun Obasanjo Way) in Dakibiyu — a stretch poised to ease traffic congestion, enhance connectivity, and catalyze commercial growth in the area.

Representing the President at the event, Vice President Kashim Shettima lauded the project as a hallmark of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and conveyed Tinubu’s full confidence in the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. He pledged continuous federal backing to drive further infrastructure development across Abuja.

President Tinubu, in his message, praised Wike for his sense of urgency and track record of swift project execution, describing him as “a man whose sense of urgency in the execution of projects is well known to Nigerians.”

“The capital of this nation must reflect the strength and dignity of all who call it home,” the President said. “We are determined to ensure that development knows no postcode, that governance does not discriminate, and that the dignity of our citizens is not defined by their geography.”

He emphasized that Abuja must become a model of inclusive urban growth. “Our goal is to build a capital that works for everyone. So, as we commission this road, let it be a symbol not just of connectivity but of commitment, not just of movement but of momentum.”

The President also noted that the project marks a turning point for the long-neglected Dakibiyu community, integrating it more fully into the city’s development matrix.

“Communities will flourish, congestion will ease, and most critically, livelihoods will thrive,” Tinubu stated. “This is what we mean when we speak of Renewed Hope; not lofty rhetoric, but practical impact.”

Speaking at the ceremony, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike thanked President Tinubu and members of the Federal Executive Council for their approval and support of the project, which officially commenced in October 2024. He noted the road’s importance to several key public institutions and its prior state of disrepair.

“Your Excellency, I thank you for your continued support, and we will continue to solicit for more,” Wike said.

Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, echoed similar sentiments, praising the Dakibiyu road as a clear outcome of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She described it as a blueprint for sustainable development and inclusive governance.

“This project stands as yet another testament to the Tinubu administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructural development and inclusive urban growth,” she remarked.

The newly commissioned road is expected to significantly ease mobility, improve access to services, and boost local economic activity—making it a milestone in the administration’s efforts to reshape Abuja into a capital that truly works for all.
