The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released the timetable and fee structure for aspirants contesting in the 2025 bye-elections, pegging the cost of senatorial nomination at ₦20 million and House of Representatives at ₦10 million.
This announcement was contained in a document issued on Monday by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, detailing the schedule of activities and cost breakdown for all elective positions.
Full Breakdown of Nomination Fees
Senate:
Expression of Interest Form: ₦3 million
Nomination Form: ₦17 million
Total: ₦20 million
House of Representatives:
Expression of Interest Form: ₦1 million
Nomination Form: ₦9 million
Total: ₦10 million
State House of Assembly:
Expression of Interest Form: ₦500,000
Nomination Form: ₦1.5 million
Total: ₦2 million
The party, however, announced waivers to encourage inclusivity:
Female aspirants and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) will only pay for the Expression of Interest Form. The Nomination Form will be issued to them free of charge.
Youths aged 25–40 are eligible for a 50% discount on the Nomination Form.
Party Primaries & Election Timeline
According to the schedule:
Notice of Election to state chapters begins Monday, June 30, 2025.
Membership Register Update: July 1–5
Sale and Submission of Forms: Ends Monday, July 7
Screening of Aspirants: Thursday, July 10
Party Primaries: Between July 22–26
Publication of Final Candidates: Saturday, July 26
Campaign Period: July 26–August 14
Bye-Elections Date: Saturday, August 16, 2025
Membership & Delegate Requirements
The APC emphasized that only financial members—those who have paid at least one year’s dues by July 2025—and whose names are on the membership register will be eligible to vote or be voted for.
Delegates intending to vote at the congresses must:
Be registered members
Pay a minimum of ₦600 in dues (₦200/month for three months)
Purchase Delegate Forms at ₦5,000
Transparent Primaries Promised
In his statement, Argungu assured that the APC remains committed to conducting free, fair, and Electoral Act-compliant primaries.
“We encourage all aspirants and members to strictly adhere to the guidelines. Transparency and due process will define this election cycle,” he stated.
