The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the resignation of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON. His resignation, which takes immediate effect, was tendered to allow him attend to urgent and important personal matters.
In his resignation letter, addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Dr. Ganduje expressed his profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the privilege to serve the Party at the highest level.

Following his resignation, President Tinubu has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the role of Acting National Chairman. A meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) will be convened immediately to officially fill the vacancy.
Dr. Ganduje took over the leadership of the APC in August 2023, succeeding Senator Abdullahi Adamu. During his tenure, he worked to strengthen party unity, promote its democratic ideals, and bolster its electoral performance. His leadership was notably affirmed by both the NEC and the Party’s National Caucus in February 2025.

He departs the position with a sense of pride in the Party’s achievements under his stewardship, including high-profile defections from opposition parties and favorable legal rulings affirming the Party’s leadership.
The NWC extended its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ganduje for his “invaluable contributions and distinguished record of service” and expressed best wishes for his continued service to the nation.
The APC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering good governance in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
