The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed a shocking and coordinated attack on the Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor, allegedly masterminded by his own Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Chief of Staff (CoS), in collaboration with a gang of about 30 individuals.
The brazen incident occurred on June 20, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m. within the council secretariat premises, according to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, on Sunday.
Eyewitness footage that surfaced online over the weekend captured the horrifying scene, showing the LG administrator being assaulted, harassed, and coerced into signing a resignation letter under duress—an action the police have described as “heinous and criminal.”
“The Rivers State Police Command is aware and deeply disturbed by the heinous attack on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East LGA, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor,” Iringe-Koko stated.
The police said the coordinated assault was allegedly led by Mr. Hector Ekakita, the Chief Security Officer, and the Chief of Staff to the council boss. During the incident, Iheanachor was reportedly physically attacked, his mobile devices stolen, and confidential documents carted away from his office.
The attack also extended to Mr. Alabi, Secretary of the Local Government Council, who was likewise seen being physically manhandled in the viral video clips.
Iheanachor, who sustained injuries, is said to be receiving treatment and currently in stable condition, according to the police spokesperson.
In immediate response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, visited the scene in the company of heads of sister security agencies and ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.
The Commissioner directed the CSO, CoS, and all other individuals involved to report to the State Police Headquarters at Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, for interrogation.
“The Command unequivocally condemns this reprehensible act and has taken swift action to ensure justice is served. Failure to comply with the police invitation will attract serious consequences,” the police warned.
The Rivers State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to law and order and urged members of the public to remain calm and allow security agencies to carry out their duties.
As investigations unfold, observers say this incident marks one of the most brazen internal coups against a sitting local government administrator in recent memory—underscoring growing political tensions within the state’s grassroots leadership.
