The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has ordered the immediate and indefinite suspension of Mr. Mkor Aondona, his Special Adviser on Documentation, Research, and Planning, following the latter’s arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mr. Aondona is under investigation for alleged involvement in sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
In a firm response to the unfolding situation, Governor Alia emphasized that the suspension reflects his administration’s unwavering commitment to integrity, discipline, and accountability in public service. He made it clear that any official found guilty of criminal conduct or ethical violations will face the full weight of the law.
“The law will take its course without interference or bias,” the Governor stated, reiterating that his government will not condone any actions capable of tarnishing the image of the administration or eroding public trust.
Governor Alia underscored that public office is a sacred trust—one that demands honour, transparency, and responsibility. “Anyone who deviates from this path has no place in my government,” he affirmed.
The suspended Special Adviser is expected to cooperate fully with the legal process as the serious allegations against him are thoroughly investigated.
The Benue State Government remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of all citizens, particularly women and vulnerable groups.
