US President Donald J. Trump has expressed optimism about the possibility of a peace deal between Iran and Israel, suggesting that negotiations are already underway. In a post on his social media account, the President stated that “many calls and meetings” are currently taking place and predicted that peace between the two countries will come “soon.”
Trump cited previous diplomatic efforts during his presidency as evidence of his conflict-resolution abilities. He referenced using trade to ease tensions between India and Pakistan, brokering calm between Serbia and Kosovo, and intervening in the Nile River dispute between Egypt and Ethiopia. “There is peace, at least for now, because of my intervention,” he said.
He criticised former President Joe Biden for decisions that he believes harmed long-term peace prospects, particularly in the Balkans, but assured supporters that he would “fix it, again.”
Despite saying he receives little recognition for his efforts, Trump ended his message confidently, writing, “the PEOPLE understand. MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!”
