Troops of the Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully repelled a major assault by ISWAP terrorists on an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Mallam Fatori, Borno State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed via X on Thursday that the attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday. He revealed that over 150 terrorists launched a coordinated offensive on army positions from the Kaniram axis.
Advancing on foot, the insurgents reportedly deployed Automatic Grenade Launchers (AGLs) and armed drones, aiming at the troops’ main defensive lines.
In response, the soldiers swiftly countered with mortar and tank fire, concentrating on the attackers’ western entry routes.
Despite intense fighting that lasted nearly four hours and a brief breach into part of the IDP camp, the troops regrouped and unleashed superior firepower, ultimately forcing the terrorists to withdraw in disarray.
