Join APC If You Think You’re an Asset – APC Chieftain Eze Blasts Wike Over Attacks on Amaechi

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has issued a scathing response to recent comments made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, calling on him to officially join the ruling party if he considers himself a political asset.

Eze’s remarks come in the wake of Wike’s media interview where he launched a blistering attack on his former ally and predecessor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. Wike had mocked Amaechi’s criticism of the Bola Tinubu administration’s economic policies, during the former minister’s 60th birthday celebration, where he lamented being “very hungry” under the current economic climate.

Reacting in a statement issued in Port Harcourt and reported by Hobnob News Nigeria, Chief Eze described Wike’s utterances as the “rantings of a desperate politician” seeking relevance and validation through duplicity and betrayal.

“If Wike really thinks he’s an asset, then let him come out clean and officially join the APC. This half-in, half-out game he’s playing with both the PDP and APC is disgraceful,” Eze said. “He is only a reservoir of blackmail, greed, envy, and ingratitude.”

Eze accused Wike of political hypocrisy and double-dealing, stating that the former Rivers State Governor had long since sold his conscience and was now plagued by guilt and political paranoia.

“The burden of morality, blackmail, betrayal, and backstabbing is slowly but steadily drying Wike up. He’s suffering from political dementia,” Eze added. “He betrayed and destroyed the PDP—the very party that made him—and now wants to benefit from APC without sowing anything.”

Referencing the 2023 general elections, Eze criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for allegedly legitimizing electoral fraud in Rivers State, which he claims was orchestrated by Wike.

“If Tinubu were truly a democrat, he would have rejected the so-called electoral success in Rivers, which was nothing short of a democratic travesty orchestrated by Wike,” Eze stated.

The APC chieftain described Wike as habitually arrogant and treacherous, arguing that his attacks on Amaechi stem from deep-seated envy and insecurity.

“I won’t waste my precious time dissecting all of Wike’s childish rants against Amaechi. He knows he’s no match for Amaechi in stature or integrity. Amaechi is refined, strategic, and respected—not boastful and erratic like Wike.”

Eze also commented on the recent back-and-forth involving Olabamji Enitan Jowosimi, Special Assistant to President Tinubu on New Media, and Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to Wike. Both aides had attacked Amaechi for criticizing President Tinubu, citing his long years in government.

Eze dismissed their reactions as ignorant and unproductive, saying:

“Rather than defend the president with facts, they chose to insult a man who played a pivotal role in founding the APC. Amaechi labored with other progressives to build this party from the ground up.”

Despite his criticisms of Wike, Eze thanked him for inadvertently highlighting Amaechi’s enduring legacy and contributions to national development.

“At least Wike helped remind Nigerians of Amaechi’s 23 years of purposeful service to this country. Whether as Speaker, Governor, or Minister, Amaechi has always served with vision and integrity.”

Eze concluded by urging Wike to stop hiding behind the façade of dual political allegiances and make a definitive choice about where he stands.

“Enough of the eye service and the deception. You can’t be dancing at two weddings. If you truly believe in President Tinubu and what APC represents, come and register fully as a member—then you’ll see what it really means to be accountable.”

As tensions continue to rise within political circles, observers say the war of words between allies-turned-rivals Wike and Amaechi may shape the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially in Rivers State where both men wield significant influence.
