The suspended Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Professor Ngozi Nma Ordu, has once again dismissed widespread rumours suggesting she has resigned from office, reaffirming her commitment to the ongoing administration.
In a firm rebuttal issued by the Head of her Press Unit, Owepele Benibo, the reports were described as “false information from the pit of hell.” Speaking to Hobnob News Nigeria via telephone, Benibo categorically stated that Professor Ordu remains in office and has no plans to step down, especially amid ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the state.
“The Deputy Governor is fully engaged in the administration led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara,” Benibo emphasized. “We urge the public to disregard this fake news being circulated. It is completely unfounded.”
This marks the second time in recent months that such rumours have circulated. On March 5, 2025, similar claims surfaced on Facebook, alleging that Professor Ordu had resigned. Her media team promptly debunked those claims as well.
The renewed speculation comes as political tensions continue to stir in Rivers State. However, the Deputy Governor’s office remains resolute, assuring the public of her continued dedication to governance and the peace-building process.
