Victory for Excellence: EKSU, ACU, and Ayede Polytechnic Secure Full Accreditation for 31 Programmes

Hobnob News – In a significant boost to higher education in Nigeria, three prominent institutions—Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), and Federal Polytechnic, Ayede—have secured full accreditation for a total of 31 academic programmes from the relevant regulatory bodies.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation to 18 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at EKSU and nine programmes at ACU. Meanwhile, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) approved four National Diploma (ND) programmes at the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, and approved the commencement of one additional programme.

A letter signed by the NUC’s Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, dated April 30, 2025, confirmed EKSU’s success in fields such as Law, Civil and Electrical Engineering, Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, and multiple Education and Arts-based programmes.

In a statement issued by the Head of EKSU’s Directorate of Information, Bode Olofinmuagun, the university described the development as a product of rigorous efforts and commitment to academic distinction. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatola Ayodele hailed the accreditation as a milestone that validates the university’s rising profile and dedication to excellence, citing its top ranking by Times Higher Education as Nigeria’s best state university in 2025.

Ajayi Crowther University also received the NUC’s full endorsement for programmes including Nursing, Law, Statistics, Mathematics, Music, and Christian Religious Studies. Additionally, the university’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme received full accreditation. According to ACU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, the achievement reflects years of consistent dedication to quality education, research, and institutional integrity.

At the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, the NBTE granted full accreditation to four National Diploma programmes: Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology, and Statistics. The institution also received approval to launch a new ND programme in Office Technology and Management.

Rector Dr. Taofeek Abdul-Hameed praised the development, highlighting it as a reflection of the polytechnic’s ongoing commitment to excellence in technical and vocational education. “We now run 13 ND programmes, and we remain committed to academic innovation and growth,” he stated.

Previously accredited programmes at the polytechnic include Accountancy, Public Administration, Business Administration and Management, Agricultural Technology, and Urban and Regional Planning, among others.

The recent accreditations reinforce all three institutions’ roles in providing quality, industry-relevant education, meeting national standards, and producing globally competitive graduates.
