The Federal Government has officially taken control of a 750-unit luxury housing estate seized from the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
The handover was carried out by the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, and received by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.
Located in a prime area of the Federal Capital Territory, the estate consists of high-end duplexes forfeited to the government after thorough EFCC investigations uncovered financial misconduct during Emefiele’s time as CBN Governor.
This asset seizure is part of the Tinubu administration’s wider initiative to recover stolen public funds and redeploy confiscated properties for national development.
Minister Dangiwa stated that the ministry will conduct a full structural integrity assessment of the buildings and complete any outstanding infrastructure.
He said: “We will carry out comprehensive integrity and structural evaluations of all buildings and related infrastructure to guarantee safety and suitability for occupancy.
“We will also finalise all pending infrastructure work, including roads, drainage, and essential services, to make the estate fully operational. Furthermore, a standardised housing design framework will be established to ensure architectural consistency and guide potential buyers.”
“Lastly, the housing units will be sold through a transparent, competitive process, widely advertised and managed via the Renewed Hope Portal.”
