Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Katsina Clearance Operation

Troops of Operation Forest Yaki (OPFY) Main Strike Team have neutralized several terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons during a successful clearance operation in parts of Katsina State, military sources confirmed.

The operation, which began around 5:30 a.m. on May 9, saw troops advance from Bini in the HAR axis through Landal village, Akuzo, and down to the Yan Wutsiya area, where they stormed a terrorist hideout known as “Soja Camp.”

According to a military intelligence source who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the terrorists engaged the soldiers in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the deaths of several insurgents. Others fled the camp with gunshot wounds, as indicated by blood trails found in the vicinity.

After securing the area, the troops conducted a detailed sweep of the camp and recovered two AK-47 rifles, ten loaded magazines containing 300 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a 120mm mortar bomb believed to be intended for use in improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a locally fabricated PKT rifle, a homemade pistol, military uniforms, 120/88 links, and a Baofeng radio set with chargers.

A motorcycle belonging to the fleeing terrorists was also destroyed, along with all logistical supplies and life-support structures within the camp.

Military sources reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining relentless pressure on terrorist groups until all criminal enclaves across the region are completely dismantled.
