The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to tackling the escalating insecurity in Benue State and across the country.
Speaking on Tuesday during a press briefing at the Government House in Makurdi, Ribadu emphasized that the Federal Government is fully backing efforts by Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, to restore peace and stability in the region.
“We are fully committed to supporting the Governor in tackling insecurity and will continue to stand with him to defeat this menace,” Ribadu stated.
The visit comes amid increasing violence in Benue State, where more than 120 lives have been lost to recent attacks. Ribadu’s remarks echoed President Bola Tinubu’s firm directive to eliminate the threat of insecurity nationwide.
“The President has directed me to reaffirm his determination to eliminate this threat,” Ribadu added, conveying the administration’s resolve to bring lasting peace to troubled areas.
While acknowledging the efforts of Governor Alia, Ribadu also cautioned against individuals and groups attempting to exploit the situation for political or personal gain.
He called for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders, stressing that sustainable peace requires collective action and shared responsibility.
Ribadu was warmly received by Governor Alia, members of the National Assembly, and other top government officials at the Government House.
His visit underscores growing national concern over the deteriorating security situation in the North Central region and the Federal Government’s intensified efforts to address it.
