Police Extradite ‘Killaboi’ to Face Murder Charges in Nigeria

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the successful extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as Killaboi, from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria, over the alleged murder of his ex-girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.

Nnayereugo, accused of killing the 21-year-old first-class student at his Ajah, Lagos residence on July 13, 2023, was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025, following a coordinated international manhunt.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extradition was the result of collaborative efforts involving the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, the Qatari authorities, and other relevant agencies.

The case was triggered by a petition filed by the victim’s family on September 29, 2024. Investigations revealed that after the murder, Nnayereugo fled the country and later released a video appearing to confess to the crime—an act authorities say was a calculated ploy to mislead investigators.

“He was declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on October 13, 2023, prompting the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice,” the statement noted.

The fugitive was first arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, while using a false identity, Kanu Princeton Samuel. However, he escaped custody during a prison break on November 26, 2023.

Further intelligence tracked his movement across multiple regions including West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East. He eventually settled in Doha on January 24, 2025, using the alias Toure Abdoulaye and a forged Guinean passport.

Advanced biometric systems and coordinated efforts between INTERPOL NCBs in Abuja and Doha led to his arrest by Qatari authorities in February 2025. His extradition followed approval from the Qatari judiciary, after a formal request from Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the international collaboration that led to Nnayereugo’s capture and expressed gratitude to the Qatari government, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar.

The IGP assured the public that the suspect will face diligent prosecution, reaffirming the Police Force’s commitment to justice and public safety.
