Three people have reportedly died after a small aircraft crashed near Boca Raton Airport in Florida. The incident was first reported by local media, though authorities have yet to confirm the fatalities.
Footage from the crash site revealed thick smoke rising from several fires close to a palm tree-lined highway. According to BocaNewsNow, the aircraft experienced mechanical problems around 10.17am.
Boca Raton Police announced that N Military Trail had been shut between NW 19th St and Butts Rd “due to a small aircraft crash”. They also said the I-95 overpass was closed and advised people to “avoid the area”.
This tragic crash occurred just hours after another deadly incident in the US, when a Spanish family of five died in a helicopter crash on Thursday.
That helicopter plunged into the Hudson River during a New York skyline sightseeing tour meant to celebrate a child’s birthday. The 36-year-old pilot, also killed, has not yet been identified.
