President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the House of Representatives have condemned the recent deadly attacks on communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, which resulted in numerous deaths and extensive property damage, according to The Bureau Newspaper.
The coordinated assaults, allegedly carried out by gunmen, affected several communities, including Ruwi, Hurti, Tadai, Manguna, Dafo, and Josho, leading to significant loss of life, displacement of residents, and widespread destruction of properties.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the killings as “unacceptable and inhumane,” pledging to bring those responsible to justice. “These attacks on defenceless citizens are unacceptable. I have directed security agencies to hunt down the attackers, and they will face severe punishment when apprehended,” the President stated.
He offered his condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Plateau State, and Governor Caleb Mutfwang, encouraging residents of the affected areas to provide law enforcement with credible intelligence that could aid in capturing the culprits.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families. No community should have to endure such tragedy. We must all unite to foster peace and reject retaliation,” he added.
In response to the humanitarian crisis, President Tinubu ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to immediately collaborate with Plateau State authorities to provide relief materials and rehabilitation assistance to those affected.
The President reiterated that his administration is steadfast in its commitment to restoring peace and stability across the country, emphasizing that such acts of terror must never be normalized or permitted to continue.
