Former MFM Member Funke Ashekun Accuses Dr. Daniel Olukoya of Hypnotism and Sexual Abuse

Nigerian social media influencer and YouTuber, Mrs. Funke Ashekun, has made serious allegations against Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).

She claims that during a counselling session in his office, Olukoya grabbed her, placed his forehead against hers, and hypnotised her. Ashekun, who served in the church for nearly 20 years and was deeply involved in its activities, shared these allegations in an exclusive interview with SaharaReporters.

Ashekun explained that she had visited Olukoya’s office not for deliverance, but to submit a report about a singles’ fellowship programme. She recalled, “Without any warning, Olukoya pulled me close and placed his forehead against mine.” She said that when she looked into his eyes, she felt an unsettling, almost hypnotic sensation that left her deeply uncomfortable. At that time, she did not suspect any sinister intent because Olukoya was well-known for his preachings on holiness and deliverance.

After relocating to the U.S., Ashekun began receiving messages from other women who claimed to have had similar experiences with Olukoya, where they would lose consciousness during these sessions. This led her to realise that it was not just an uncomfortable moment but a form of hypnotism.

She also recounted meeting a woman in Nigeria who was suicidal due to years of alleged sexual abuse by Olukoya. This was when she first heard sexual assault allegations against him. She said multiple women came forward with similar stories, claiming Olukoya exploited vulnerable women, including young girls, single mothers, and those in financial distress, under the guise of spiritual deliverance. Ashekun further alleged that Olukoya would take these women into his private toilet, where he would claim to anoint their private parts, leading to sexual assault.

Victims also reported experiencing strange spiritual attacks following these encounters. One woman allegedly received video clips of herself during the assault, which Olukoya recorded without consent. Ashekun also alleged that Olukoya’s inner circle had advanced recording gadgets disguised as everyday items to capture these encounters.

Despite facing multiple lawsuits from Olukoya, Ashekun continues to speak out, lamenting the difficulty in getting mainstream media outlets to cover the story due to fear of retaliation. Attempts to contact MFM for a response to these allegations were unsuccessful.
