A significant delegation of Abuja residents, led by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, converged on the Presidential Villa on Sunday to extend Sallah greetings to President Bola Tinubu, showcasing a united front and highlighting the administration’s commitment to the capital’s development. The event, attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohamed Idris, and other prominent FCT figures, served as a platform to reaffirm support for the president’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
President Tinubu, in his address, lauded Wike’s dedication to transforming Abuja into a capital city worthy of national pride. This commendation arrived amidst swirling rumors of Wike’s alleged health issues, which were firmly dispelled by his active presence and robust engagement during the homage. Notably, Wike’s schedule on Friday, which included meetings and project inspections, demonstrated his continued commitment to his duties.
Wike, addressing the gathering, extended warm felicitations to President Tinubu and the Muslim community on the successful completion of Ramadan. He emphasized the historic nature of the visit, marking the first time FCT residents had the opportunity to personally convey their Sallah wishes to the president.
Looking ahead, Wike highlighted the administration’s ambitious plans for the FCT, detailing a series of impactful projects slated for commissioning as the second anniversary of Tinubu’s presidency approaches. These projects, designed to enhance infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for residents, stand as tangible evidence of the president’s dedication to national development.
“We look forward to hosting Your Excellency in the FCT to witness firsthand the tangible progress that has been made under your leadership over the last 12 months,” Wike stated, underscoring the delegation’s eagerness to showcase the administration’s achievements.
He further emphasized the president’s unwavering dedication to unity, good governance, and national development, which he said inspires all FCT residents. “The residents of the FCT are deeply grateful for your leadership and the initiatives being undertaken to enhance the well-being of all of us,” he affirmed.
Wike also stressed the diverse composition of the delegation, which included religious, political, and traditional leaders, heads of security agencies, FCT Administration officials, media representatives, and ordinary residents. This unity, he asserted, reflects the collective commitment of the FCT people to national progress under President Tinubu’s leadership.
Acknowledging the president’s “unparalleled support” for the FCT Administration, Wike highlighted several key initiatives that have strengthened governance and improved service delivery. These include the FCTA’s exit from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission, the establishment of new Mandate Secretariats for Women and Youths, and the appointment of Permanent Secretaries.
He also recalled the president’s personal involvement in commissioning projects during his first anniversary, further demonstrating his commitment to the FCT’s development. The homage served as a powerful display of unity and support, reinforcing the partnership between the FCT residents and the Tinubu administration.
