Florence Nwaeke, the wife of former Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, has raised concerns over her husband’s whereabouts following his recent resignation.
Speaking to journalists late Friday, she expressed fear for his safety, stating that she had been unable to reach him since he traveled to Abuja.
“When he got to Abuja, he called to say he had landed. I thanked God,” she recounted. However, her fears escalated after seeing an online interview allegedly granted by her husband.
“I looked at the screen and said, ‘That is not my husband! That is not my husband!’” she cried.
According to her, all attempts to reach him afterward proved futile. Desperate, she sent him multiple messages asking if he was under duress or had been kidnapped, but she received no response.
“My husband is in trouble! Nigerians, help me! His numbers are not going through,” she pleaded.
Her outcry follows her husband’s controversial allegations against suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, accusing him of orchestrating the bombing of the State House of Assembly in 2023 and allegedly backing militant attacks on oil facilities.
In response, Fubara dismissed Nwaeke’s claims, stating that he had been compromised.
“The truth is that Dr. Nwaeke has been coerced to spread falsehoods,” the governor stated. He also shared screenshots of purported conversations between Nwaeke and his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, allegedly showing Nwaeke seeking financial assistance.
As the political tension in Rivers State deepens, Florence Nwaeke’s desperate cry for help has added another dramatic twist to the unfolding saga.
