Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his deep appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing the pivotal role Tinubu played in his political success. In a phone call on Friday, Buhari joined the nation in celebrating Tinubu’s birthday, offering prayers for his long life, good health, and a successful presidency.
“When we pray for our leaders, we are praying for ourselves and the nation. We owe this to ourselves and the nation,” Buhari told Tinubu.
Expressing profound gratitude, Buhari acknowledged his personal and political debt to Tinubu and other APC leaders for their crucial contributions to the party’s formation and his two-term presidency. “My family and I remain indebted to President Tinubu and other leaders of the party for the invaluable contributions they made towards the formation of the All Progressives Congress, APC, catapulting me to the presidency for two terms after failed attempts in the past.”
He lauded Tinubu’s legacy, calling him a “party stalwart, a staunch activist, party organizer, party builder, a reliable ally, and a serial winner of democratic elections,” adding, “I am truly proud of my association with the Asiwaju.”
Reflecting on the APC’s 2015 victory, Buhari emphasized the party’s mandate to create a better future for Nigerians. “When Nigerians handed the baton of leadership to the APC in 2015, it was a mandate to lay the foundation for a new Nigeria… and I am glad that the vision is not lost.”
He also extended Ramadan and Sallah wishes to Tinubu, his family, and the nation.
