The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to insurgent activities in Borno State, conducting airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of several terrorists and the destruction of their weapons, hideouts, and vehicles.
The operations, which targeted insurgent strongholds in Warawara (near Wajiroko) and Chinene in the Mandara Mountains, were carried out on March 26, 2025. According to NAF, the strikes followed intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions that uncovered terrorist activity, including the stockpiling of logistics and the planting of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) around Wajiroko.
NAF aircraft carried out coordinated strikes on terrorist strongholds, destroying gun trucks, critical supplies, and makeshift shelters. The airstrikes also forced insurgents to abandon their positions, significantly degrading their operational capabilities.
Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the elimination of scores of terrorist fighters, along with the destruction of four gun trucks, two Toyota Hilux vehicles, and several makeshift shelters. The NAF has pledged its continued commitment to neutralizing insurgents, disrupting their logistics, and denying them safe havens.
“With sustained pressure on terrorist elements, the NAF remains resolute in its mission to restore peace and security in the country,” said Group Capt. Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information.
